Visa Rwanda

Visa to Rwanda is only available on arrival and is granted by the Directorate General of Immigration and Emigration (DGIE). This means that travellers can obtain their visa upon entry at the airport or at a border post.

Note: The Rwandan embassy in the Netherlands no longer issues visas. Travellers do not need to apply for a physical visa in advance, but can obtain a visa on arrival for a fee. Always check the latest entry requirements before leaving.

Always call your airline first if it is mandatory to check in with a visa. If so, you will need to apply for the East African Visa.

East African Visa (EAV)

Are you travelling between Rwanda, Kenya and/or Uganda? If so, you only need to apply for one visa: the East African Visa.

Validity

The visa for Rwanda (EAV) is valid for 90 days from the date of issue. This means that you must enter the country within this period. The actual length of stay is determined upon arrival by immigration officials and depends on the type of visa you receive. Make sure you plan your trip within the validity period to avoid problems at the border.

Conditions

To obtain a visa to Rwanda, you must meet the following conditions:

1. Digital passport photo - A recent, clear passport photo meeting the official requirements.
2. Copy of passport - Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the date of arrival in Rwanda.
3. Flight confirmation - Proof of your booked trip to and from Rwanda.
4. Yellow fever booklet - A valid yellow fever vaccination certificate is mandatory for entry into Rwanda.
