If you plan to travel to Tanzania for holiday or business, you should apply for a regular Tanzania visa before you travel to the country. This is because you need a Tanzania visa to travel to this country. The Tanzania visa is issued by the Tanzanian government and it allows you to enter the territory of Tanzania, including the island of Zanzibar. Upon arrival in Tanzania, your visa will be checked at passport control at the airport or at the border crossing.

Period of validity of e-visa Tanzania

The validity period varies by visa type. Below you can see what they are:

The Tanzania tourist e-visa is a single entry visa and valid for 90 days from the time of issue. Within this period, you are allowed to stay in the country for 30 days (excluding extension).
Business e-visa Tanzania, like the tourist e-visa, is valid for 90 days from the time of issue, with stays of 30 consecutive days within the validity period. This visa also allows you to enter and exit the country only once.
The Multiple entry e-visa Tanzania is a visa that allows you to enter and exit Tanzania multiple times. You do not need to buy a new visa each time you travel, as long as you travel within the validity period of 12 months (1 year after issue). Within this period, you have 90 consecutive days of stay, where you are required to leave the country every 3 months.
A Transit e-visa Tanzania is valid for a transit duration of up to 7 days.

With all visa types (except the transit visa), you may travel between Tanzania Mainland and Zanzibar indefinitely, without the visa expiring.

Tanzania visa requirements

You need a valid passport to travel to Tanzania. Your Dutch passport must be valid for at least 6 months after visa issuance and at the time of arrival in the country.

Urgent visa application Tanzania

Applying for a visa to Tanzania takes between 2 and 5 business days on average. When applying, make sure you have several documents on hand to speed up the process. Tanzanian authorities may take up to 10 days to approve the visa.

For urgent applications (extra charge) we always send an urgent request to the Tanzanian embassy. Please note that this request is not always honored and therefore not a guarantee. This request is solely at the discretion of the Consular Department and the Tanzanian Immigration Department!

Transfer with visa Tanzania

Transit visa (C2) is issued only to travelers with onward tickets, sufficient funds for crossing into Tanzania, and a visa for the destination country (or some evidence of prior arrangements that satisfy this requirement).

There are only two types of entries for the transit visa, which are ordinary transit visa and dual transit visa. The maximum length of stay for the transit visa is 3 days and 6 days (total) for the respective two types of entries.

Entry into Tanzania for the purpose of employment, studies, volunteering or other related stay for the long term is advised to apply for the corresponding residence and work permit. Additional documents

All applicants must provide a copy of a flight confirmation in their name in addition to the embassy form, passport photos and passport. This must show when you will enter and also leave Tanzania's borders.

Business travelers
