What is a visa Kenya application and what types of visas are there?

To enter the borders of Kenya you must obtain prior permission from the local authorities.

For most tourist and business trips, it is possible to apply for an electronic e-Visa up to 7 days before departure. This visa is valid for 3 months and offers you a single (single) entry to Kenya.

This can be done entirely digitally via our website and you no longer need to physically supply us with documents in order to prepare the application for you.

However, in addition to the e-Visa for tourist and business travelers, we also offer a multiple entry East African visa.

East African Visa (EAV)

Are you traveling between Rwanda, Kenya and/or Uganda? Then you only need to apply for one visa.

The advantage of this visa is that you will not have to deal with long queues for applying for a Visa on Arrival on arrival and you do not have to go to all three embassies to apply for your visa before departure.

After receiving all necessary documents, we will check the application for completeness before we apply for the East African Visa for you.

The East African Visa offers you the following:

With this visa you can travel several times through the borders of Rwanda, Kenya and / or Uganda.
The visa is valid for 3 months and you can stay within the borders of those three countries for a maximum of 90 consecutive days (from the time of arrival).
You do not have to apply for a new permission in advance for each country. With this visa you will receive the EAV upon arrival in the first country by means of the visa authorization issued by us. This only needs to be done once. You may then switch between the countries mentioned above several times.

The visa costs differ per visa type.

For the Tourist e-Visa you pay € 82,50 per person, including VAT. It takes about 72 hours after submitting your application before we receive a response from the Kenyan government.

The visa is valid for three months and you can stay in Kenya for a maximum of 90 consecutive days.
You can extend this visa locally up to a maximum of 180 days. You must do this at the Immigration Service’s headquarters in Kenya, also known as the Kenya Foreign Nationals Service, Department of Immigration Services. We cannot issue a guarantee for extension, as this decision is for the local immigration authorities.
You must apply for the visa between 28 days and a maximum of 7 days before departure.

For the Business e-Visa you pay € 82,50 per person, including VAT. It takes about 72 hours after submitting your application before we receive a response from the Kenyan government.

The visa is valid for three months and you can stay in Kenya for a maximum of 90 consecutive days.

With this visa you get 90 days of stay on arrival and you can cross the borders of Rwanda, Kenya and / or Uganda several times.

In contrast to the Tourist / Business e-Visa, for the AEV visa you do need to provide us with documents together with your passport and passport photos. With this we will go to the embassy for you and we will also collect your passport for you as soon as your visa application is ready.

Validity period of the e-visa

Both the tourist visa, business visa and East African visa are all valid for 90 days from the time of issue.

The stay may be 90 consecutive days on all visa types.

The 1-year Kenya visa is valid for 1 year and allows for multiple trips in and out of Kenya within this validity.

However, the stay may not exceed 90 days for the time being unless you have extended it on time.

Extend

If you want to stay in the country longer, you can extend all three visa types up to a stay of up to 180 days. You can do this at the immigration office in Kenya, also called the Kenya Foreign Nationals Service, Department of Immigration Services.

Conditions of the ETA

The Kenya visa is a requirement for travelers wishing to travel to Kenya for tourism, business, or transit. To qualify for a Kenya visa, you must meet a number of conditions.

Prerequisites:

You must possess a valid passport, issued by your country of origin, that is valid for at least six months from the date of entry into Kenya. This passport must have at least two blank pages for stamps.

The purpose of travel must be tourist, business, or transit, as other purposes such as study or work require a different type of visa. Your stay in Kenya must not exceed the validity of the visa you have applied for.

Urgent e-visa applications

If required, we can process your application with urgency. We will then apply for your visa within 15 minutes on working days. For most countries, this means that you will receive the visa within an hour. On weekends NO applications will be processed! The cost for an urgent application is € 29.95 per person.

Transfer with ETA Kenya

For travelers with a European passport, you will need a transit visa if you transfer at a Kenyan airport and do not leave the country. This visa is required if you fly on to another destination in Kenya and spend more than 24 hours in the transit zone. A shorter transfer, where you do not leave the airport and fly on within 24 hours, does not require a transit visa. How many times can I enter Kenya with the eTA?

With the eTA for Kenya, you are entitled to one entry into Kenya. You can use multiple entries if you visit the following countries within 90 days: Burundi, Congo, Rwanda, South Sudan, Tanzania, and Uganda.
It is important that you do NOT visit any other countries within these 90 days that are not on the list. Therefore, it is also important that your eTA is still valid and has not expired; otherwise, you cannot use multiple entries.
