The process of applying for Laos visa starts easily online with us.  To do so, open the online application form. After filling in all the details of the respective travelers, the application can be paid very easily. 

We recommend that you apply for this visa 4-6 weeks before departure. Earlier is of no use, as applications are usually processed only shortly before departure.

Yes, to enter Laos almost all nationalities must have a visa, which can often be obtained upon arrival. You can also choose to purchase an electronic visa (e-visa) in advance before departure for travelers with Dutch or Belgian nationality. 

Het elektronische e-visum vervangt het fysieke e-visum Laos. U ontvangt dit digitale e-visum, na het invullen van de benodigde gegevens, automatisch per e-mail. Vervolgens kunt u dit e-visum uitprinten of via uw smartphone of tablet tonen aan de immigratiedienst. Let wel op! Het e-visum Laos is op enkele grensovergangen niet geldig, hier koopt u ter plaatse een visum.

The Laos e-visa allow stays of up to 30 days. The visa itself in valid for 90 days after affite and within this period you may stay in the country for 30 consecutive days. The visa expires once you leave the borders again. Do you want to stay longer? Then you can try to extend your stay at an immigration office in Laos, or you can apply for a physical (regular) visa at the embassy of Laos before your departure. This regular visa is much more expensive and you will have to provide documents, including your passport and photo, during processing. Once the visa is ready, you will receive the passport with the visa back.

No, you are not obliged to do this. You may also choose to purchase the visa upon arrival in the country, for example when you enter the border from Thailand to Laos (e.g. Lao-Thai Friendship bridge) or upon arrival in Ventiane. However, the airline may still require a visa before you can check in. In addition, there are often long waiting times upon arrival, so it is sometimes easier to arrange your visa in advance. This way you can go straight through at the border, without long queues.

To apply for the Laos visa in advance, all you need is a copy of your passport and a digital passport photo. 

Passport must be valid for at least six months after arrival in Laos. The passport must have at least two blank facing pages.

Unfortunately, once an application has been submitted, it is not possible to make changes. The only way to correct a mistake is to submit a new application. If your e-visa application is approved you will not get your money back under any circumstances. Not even if you do not use your e-visa.
