Application related information
How do I apply for a NZeTA?

To apply for an NZeTA, simply fill out our online application form on this website. After filling in you will be redirected to our payment page from where you can pay quickly and easily with iDeal, Paypal, Bancontact or Credit card.
As soon as the payment has been made, we will process your request. You will always receive, within 72 hours (also check your junk mail folder), an email stating whether your NZeTA has been approved or rejected.

How far in advance of the trip can I apply for an NZeTA?

Because the application process is done through our online form, you can apply for travel authorization with us 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The standard processing time is 5 business days. You can also select the “rush delivery” option, in which case the application will be processed immediately (or the next business day). However, we recommend applying for your New Zealand visa / NZeTA at least 72 hours before your departure.

Although 90% of rush applications (on business days and during office hours) are approved within an hour, a potential manual check by an immigration officer could cause a delay of up to 72 hours.

Do I need to send my passport and documents?

No, for the NZeTA you do not need to send your passport to us. However, we do require a copy of the passport, which you can easily upload on the application form.

When and how should I pay?

After submitting the online application form, you need to complete the payment. You can do this using iDeal, PayPal, Bancontact, or credit card. If there is a surcharge for any additional services you have chosen, it will be added to the total amount immediately.

I haven't booked a flight yet nor do I know the traveldates yet. Can I still apply?

Even if you do not yet have a specific travel plan, you can apply for an NZeTA. However, the destination must be tourist, business or a transfer. It is therefore not mandatory to submit more specific travel plans than the above mentioned with the application.
On the NZeTA application form an expected arrival date is requested, this can be estimated, if the actual date differs far from it, that is not a problem.

Is there an urgent procedure available?

Yes, we also offer an urgent procedure, the normal delivery time is 5 working days. You can also check the option “urgent delivery”, the application will be processed immediately, but we recommend that you request the NZeTA at least 72 hours before your departure.

Despite the fact that 90% of all urgent applications are granted within the hour, it is possible that the immigration service may experience a delay of up to 72 hours due to a manual check of an employee.

However, no guarantee can be given on the delivery times, even with an urgent request.

I am a status holder, can I apply for an NZeTA?

In the Netherlands, status holders who hold a residence permit cannot apply for an NZeTA. Only travelers with an officially issued Dutch passport may apply for an e-visa for New Zealand.

If you are a status holder with a residence permit but do not have a Dutch passport, it is only possible to travel to New Zealand with a regular visa.

General questions
Do I need a visa for New Zealand?

Travelers with Dutch and Belgian nationality do not need a regular visa for New Zealand for stays shorter than 90 days. However, you do need a valid NZeTA (New Zealand Electronic Travel Authority). An NZeTA is easier and cheaper to apply for than a regular visa. Please check whether you meet the conditions for the NZeTA before applying.

Travelers who have a valid regular paper travel authorization in their passport or hold a New Zealand or Australian passport do not need to apply for an NZeTA visa.

What is a NZeTA?

NZeTA stands for “New Zealand Electronic Travel Authority” and is an electronic travel permit (visa waiver) for New Zealand. The NZeTA is digitally linked to the passport upon approval and replaces, in most cases, the old paper travel authorization that the New Zealand government, such as the embassy or consulate general, would affix in the passport.

For whom is the NZeTA suitable?

The NZeTA is suitable if you travel to New Zealand for no more than 90 consecutive days for:

  • Tourism (vacation or visit to family or friends)
  • Business trips (such as training, conferences and other meetings)
  • Applications for paid or unpaid jobs in New Zealand
  • Participating in unpaid amateur sport
Do children need to have their own NZeTA visa?

A child (with or without supervision) must also have his / her own NZeTA to travel in New Zealand. Please note, it is not possible to apply for an NZeTA for children that is credited in the passport of one of the parents. Every child therefore needs his / her own passport and NZeTA to travel in New Zealand. It is of course possible for parents to apply for NZeTA for their child.

Do I also need to obtain an NZeTA if I enter the country on a cruise?

Yes, every traveler arriving in New Zealand by sea or air must obtain an NZeTA / New Zealand visa in advance.

How long is the NZeTA valid?

The NZeTA’s period of validity is 2 years from the date of grant. You can enter New Zealand an unlimited number of times with this visa. However, each stay may only last a maximum of 90 consecutive days and In each 12-month period, a maximum of 6 months may be resided in New Zealand.

Required documents
Which information is required for an NZeTA?

Applying for a New Zealand visa (NZeTA) is simple; you only need to fill out the online application form. It is important to have your passport (which must be valid for at least 3 months after your planned departure from New Zealand) on hand.

Please check that you meet the requirements before submitting your application.

If I have a new passport, do I need to apply for a new NZeTA?

Yes, if you receive a new passport after your NZeTA has been granted, you must apply for a new electronic visa for New Zealand. All details on the NZeTA must match the information on your current passport, including the passport number (your old passport combined with any previously linked NZeTA is no longer valid).

Unfortunately, the New Zealand immigration service does not refund any unused NZeTA, nor does it provide a refund for a new NZeTA application in the case of a new passport.

Can I apply a NZeTA for someone else?

Yes, you can fill in all fellow travelers in one application. You can also apply for an NZeTA for someone else in case you do not travel yourself. Obviously, you must have permission to use all data and documents required to apply for an NZeTA from the relevant traveler(s).

Does my passport state the letter O or the number 0?

Document numbers in the Netherlands never contain the letter “O”, but they can contain the number “0”. Even though it seems that there is a letter O in your passport, it will be the number 0. It is also important to know that document numbers in the Netherlands are 9 characters long.
Belgian document numbers may include the letter (s) “O” and / or the number “0”. Belgian document numbers are 8 characters long and always start with 2 letters followed by 6 numbers.

Can I apply for an NZeTA for multiple people at the same time?

Yes, it is possible to add multiple travelers who are traveling together to New Zealand on one application form. Since many details only need to be filled in once, this can save a lot of filling out work.
