Visa requirements

Kenya

Passport

Your original passport with a validity of at least 6 months after the expiry date of your visa.

It is also important that your passport contains at least 2 empty visa pages that are opposite each other.

  • For the e-Visa you must provide a clear and legible photo of the information page of your passport. This should be in .PDF or .JPG/.JPEG format.

Passport photograph

All travelers must provide a digital, official, color passport photo that meets the following conditions:

  • The photo is less than 3 months old
  • Background is white or light gray in color
  • Dimensions are 3.5 x 4.5 cm
  • No damages to the passport photo
  • Passport photo is not stapled to the visa application form
  • Person in the photo is looking straight into the camera
  • No glasses are worn in the photo
  • Format must be in .PDF, .JPG or .JPEG

For the e-Visa, we recommend that you immediately request the passport photo digitally from your photographer, so that you can be sure that it meets all the conditions.

Validity

  • The e-Visa is a single entry visa with a validity of 3 months
  • The EAV is a multiple entry visa with a validity of 3 months

Important information

  • We recommend that you combine a printout of your e-Visa with your passport before traveling to your destination.
  • Save the application (or email) of your e-Visa. This way you don’t have to fill it in again if you travel to the same destination again.

Explanation visa Kenya

What is a visa Kenya application and what types of visas are there?

To enter the borders of Kenya you must obtain prior permission from the local authorities.

For most tourist and business trips, it is possible to apply for an electronic e-Visa up to 7 days before departure. This visa is valid for 3 months and offers you a single (single) entry to Kenya.

This can be done entirely digitally via our website and you no longer need to physically supply us with documents in order to prepare the application for you.

However, in addition to the e-Visa for tourist and business travelers, we also offer a multiple entry East African visa.

East African Visa (EAV)

Are you traveling between Rwanda, Kenya and/or Uganda? Then you only need to apply for one visa.

The advantage of this visa is that you will not have to deal with long queues for applying for a Visa on Arrival on arrival and you do not have to go to all three embassies to apply for your visa before departure.

After receiving all necessary documents, we will check the application for completeness before we apply for the East African Visa for you.

The East African Visa offers you the following:

  • With this visa you can travel several times through the borders of Rwanda, Kenya and / or Uganda.
  • The visa is valid for 3 months and you can stay within the borders of those three countries for a maximum of 90 consecutive days (from the time of arrival).
  • You do not have to apply for a new permission in advance for each country. With this visa you will receive the EAV upon arrival in the first country by means of the visa authorization issued by us. This only needs to be done once. You may then switch between the countries mentioned above several times.

Processing time, visa validity and cost of the Kenya visa.

The visa costs differ per visa type.

For the Tourist e-Visa you pay € 82,50 per person, including VAT. It takes about 72 hours after submitting your application before we receive a response from the Kenyan government.

  • The visa is valid for three months and you can stay in Kenya for a maximum of 90 consecutive days.
  • You can extend this visa locally up to a maximum of 180 days. You must do this at the Immigration Service’s headquarters in Kenya, also known as the Kenya Foreign Nationals Service, Department of Immigration Services. We cannot issue a guarantee for extension, as this decision is for the local immigration authorities.
  • You must apply for the visa between 28 days and a maximum of 7 days before departure.

For the Business e-Visa you pay € 82,50 per person, including VAT. It takes about 72 hours after submitting your application before we receive a response from the Kenyan government.

For the East African Visa you pay € 126,95 per person, including VAT. Applying for this visa takes about 6 to 7 working days.

  • With this visa you get 90 days of stay on arrival and you can cross the borders of Rwanda, Kenya and / or Uganda several times.
  • You must apply for this visa about 6 weeks before departure
  • In contrast to the Tourist / Business e-Visa, for the AEV visa you do need to provide us with documents together with your passport and passport photos. With this we will go to the embassy for you and we will also collect your passport for you as soon as your visa application is ready.

It differs per visa type which data and documents we need from you to be able to submit the application to the Kenyan government.
