Embassy Registration for New Zealand Visas (strongly recommended)
Due to the increasing threat, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs recommends that all travellers register. This way the Ministry of Foreign Affairs can more easily inform and support you if necessary. Traveldocs can take care of the embassy registration for an additional fee of €19,95 per person.
What exactly is an (e)visa New Zealand?
From 1 October 2019, New Zealand will no longer be visa-free for all travellers. All travellers (except Australian and New Zealand passport holders) are required to arrange a visa in advance.
This is called a New Zealand Electronic Travel Authorization, or a NZeTA. This is an electronic authorisation letter that allows you to cross the borders of New Zealand. You are also required to have an NZeTA when transferring. So even if you only travel through Auckland International Airport, you need to apply for an NZeTA in advance. Please note that you may not leave the designated transit area of the airport with your transit visa. Do you wish to do so in advance? In that case apply for the NZeTA for tourists or business travellers. This can be done entirely online via our website.
Who is the New Zealand visa for?
All travellers with a Dutch or Belgian passport need a New Zealand visa. It allows you to travel for the following purposes:
- Business travel
- Tourist travel
- Participation in (non paid) tournaments and sports
- Possible job applications and intake interviews

How long is the NZeTA / New Zealand e-visa valid?
The New Zealand e-visa (NZeTA) is valid for 2 years from the date of issue by the New Zealand Embassy in The Hague. It is also a multiple entry visa, which allows you to enter and exit the country an unlimited number of times.
It is important to know the following:
- The visa is valid for 2 years after the date of issue, so not from the moment you enter the country.
- You may stay in the country for a maximum of 3 consecutive months at a time; you may always stay shorter, but not longer.
- In each period of 12 months you may stay in New Zealand for a maximum of 6 months.
All travellers (including children) must have their own visa. It is therefore not possible to place several people on one New Zealand e-visa.
Cost and processing time visa New Zealand.
The New Zealand government requires all travellers (including business travellers) to pay the so-called “International Visitor Conservation and Tourism Levy” (IVL). This tourist levy is NZD 35 and is included in the total cost of visa. The cost of a NZeTA visa, including tourist tax, is € 42.95. This fee includes VAT, processing fees, consular fees and any assistance with your application.
The standard processing time for the NZeTA New Zealand e-visa is 5 working days on average.
If your application is urgent, it is also possible to apply for a NZeTA urgently through our website. In that case the price for your New Zealand visa is € 57.45 per person. In that case the visa will be issued to you within 2 working days (but in practice often the same day). You can then use it immediately.
However, the Embassy reserves the right at all times to take longer to assess your application than the stated average processing time.
