Are you going to apply for a visa Sri Lanka?
You must submit your original passport with a validity of at least 6 months after the expiry date of your Sri Lanka visa.
Passport photo
If you want to apply for a visa Sri Lanka, you need to submit a digital passport photo, which complies with the following conditions:
- The photo is less than 3 months old
- The background is white or light grey in colour
- The dimensions are 3.5 x 4.5 cm
- There are no damages to the passport photo
- Must be in .PDF or .JPG/.JPEG format
- The person on the photo is looking straight into the camera
- No glasses are worn in the photo
Important Information
After you have received the ETA visa via email from us, we recommend that you make a copy of it and keep it loose in your passport when you travel.
Upon arrival the applicant will be granted 30 days double entry from the date of first entry. However, this decision is always up to the local immigration officers. Traveldocs cannot exert any influence on this decision once the visa has been processed or already issued.
Validity
Both the Tourist Visa Sri Lanka and the Business Visa Sri Lanka are valid for 30 days, the Transit Visa for Sri Lanka is valid for 48 hours.
Do you wish to stay longer than 30 days in Sri Lanka? Then you can ask the local Immigration Office for a Visa Extension. Your Sri Lanka visa can be extended for 90 days. You can find more information on www.immigration.gov.lk.
An application for extension must be filed with the Visa Section of the Department of Immigration (head office) or handled by an Authorized Agent in Sri Lanka.

What is a visa Sri Lanka and how can I apply for it?
All travellers with Dutch and Belgian nationality need to apply for a Sri Lanka visa before they are allowed to travel the country. When travellers plan to stay less than 30 days in Sri Lanka, for business or pleasure, the e-visa Sri Lanka, also called ETA (Electronic Travel Authorization) is sufficient. You can apply for this e-visa here easily and completely online.
After the granting of the (e-)visa/ETA Sri Lanka, the traveller should print it out and take it with him on his trip.
What types of visas Sri Lanka can I apply for?
Sri Lanka has several types of visas that you can apply for. For example, there are:
- A Visa on Arrival can be obtained on arrival at Colombo airport for a fee of $40 USD. However, there are long waiting times associated with this,
- E-visas (ETA) Sri Lanka can be applied for online. This is possible up to 90 days before departure. The electronic visa for Sri Lanka allows you to enter and leave the country twice, within 30 days of first entry. Do you want to travel out of the country after 30 days and back in again? Then you need to apply for a new Sri Lankan visa,
- Regular Sri Lankan visa can be obtained at the embassy. This Sri Lanka visa is intended for travellers who want to stay longer than 90 days or, for any other reason, are not eligible for an electronic visa.
Tourist and business e-visas Sri Lanka you can apply online via our website

Please note that children also need to have their own Sri Lanka visa. They have to submit their own file with all necessary documents. It is therefore important that children have their own passport before they can apply for a visa Sri Lanka.
Processing time, visa validity and costs of the e-visa Sri Lanka
The processing time normally takes only 4 working days from the time of submission. Both tourist and business visas are valid for 30 days, the transfer visa is valid for 48 hours.

- Business e-visa/ETA Sri Lanka cost from € 64.95
This includes processing fees, consular fees, transaction fees (in case of iDeal/bancontact payment) and VAT for your Sri Lanka e-visa. Sri Lanka visa free
Previously, the Sri Lanka visa was free for some time. Nowadays, however, the government has reintroduced a consular fee. The exact fees can be found on our website. It is therefore no longer possible to apply for a free Sri Lanka visa.
